SEVENTEEN's Jeonghan and Joshua are making their long-anticipated unit debut official: the two vocalists will release their first mini-album, DREAMSCAPE, on October 19, label Pledis Entertainment confirmed on the 23rd.

The album's concept pulls at a genuinely interesting thread. DREAMSCAPE is built around two distinct meanings of the Korean word kkum (꿈), the unconscious fantasies that bloom while you sleep, and the ideals you chase while awake, with the music framing the collision and constant entanglement between those two states. Pledis describes the record as "a process of breaking down the boundaries between fantasy and reality and expanding a world of new sensations."

A unit years in the making

Within SEVENTEEN's vocal unit, Jeonghan and Joshua have long been considered a natural pairing by fans, who have affectionately dubbed them the "visual pair" for their complementary aesthetics and warmly matched vocal tones. Both members have been active as soloists recently, sharpening the anticipation for what they'd sound like working in concert. Jeonghan earned widespread praise for his emotionally nuanced cover of Japanese singer-songwriter tuki.'s "Bansanka," while Joshua released "Baby Come Home" in both Chinese and English versions, demonstrating the kind of multilingual reach that suits a global fanbase. Those solo moves read, in hindsight, like each member finding his own register before the two of them stepped into the room together.

Pledis says the two will inhabit the role of dreamers on this record, "presenting an ecstatic audiovisual experience through the unfamiliar beauty discovered at the point where the boundaries of two dreams dissolve." That language is marketing-speak, but the underlying musical premise, two voices navigating the space between sleeping and waking, is a concept that plays directly to both members' strengths: sweet, clear tones and a sensitivity to emotional texture that tends to show up most clearly in quieter, more intimate arrangements.

Symbol and teasers

Ahead of the release, a symbol motion video gave fans their first visual clue: the two J initials, one for Jeonghan, one for Joshua, slowly overlap and merge into a single form. The clip's dreamy, slightly abstract treatment caught attention from fans globally and generated immediate speculation about the album's sonic direction. Whether the final record leans into lush ballads, something more atmospheric, or a mix of both remains to be heard, but the creative framing suggests DREAMSCAPE is aiming for something with genuine texture rather than a straightforward fan-service pairing project.

The October 19 release date puts the unit squarely in autumn release season, when slower, emotionally resonant music tends to land especially well with Korean listeners.
