A 15-second clip shouldn't be able to do this much. But the fourth trailer in SEVENTEEN Jun's rollout for his debut Chinese EP 9, titled Conquer, opens with a bright guitar riff over a punchy beat and Jun's voice landing a melodic phrase that sticks immediately. That's enough of a glimpse to make the September 28 release feel very far away.

Over the 25th and 26th, Jun dropped five trailers and a matching set of posters through the HYBE Labels YouTube channel and SEVENTEEN's official social accounts. Each trailer carries its own distinct mood and its own piece of music, giving the whole thing the feel of a short film series rather than a standard pre-release campaign.

A gumiho finding himself

The concept behind 9 draws from Chinese folk legend: specifically, the story of a cat that cultivates spiritual power across nine lives, eventually growing nine tails and achieving immortality. Jun plays a gumiho (here a nine-tailed cat rather than the more familiar fox) stepping into the human world for the first time, granting the wishes of strangers and encountering emotions entirely new to him.

The five trailers map that emotional journey in sequence. Awakening shows Jun taking his first steps into the human realm. Admiration and Butterfly carry the warmth of early wonder and nervousness. Conquer captures the satisfaction of a wish fulfilled. Then Doubt arrives and the tone shifts. The fifth poster that accompanied it poses a question in English: "Which version of me am I even talking to right now?" It's the sharpest piece of writing in the whole rollout, and it reframes everything that came before it.

The posters as a set trace that same arc, moving through anticipation and curiosity into joy and eventually into uncertainty, each one using a different visual register to mark the shift.

What the preview actually sounds like

The Conquer clip is the moment the campaign moves from atmospheric to audible. About fifteen seconds of actual music, it leads with an upbeat guitar riff before Jun's voice enters cleanly over the groove. The tone is light and assured rather than dramatic, which is a slightly unexpected choice given the mythology being built around the album. It suggests 9 might sit closer to breezy pop than the weightier concepts the trailers occasionally hint at. Either way, the preview is doing its job: fans across social platforms have flagged it as the piece they keep returning to.

Jun adds three more trailers and three more posters on the 26th, with a key object reveal scheduled for the 27th. 9 drops in full on the 28th at 11 a.m. KST.
