SEVENTEEN's Jun Leads Chinese Action Film Zhongsheng 2, Opening October 3

SEVENTEEN's Chinese member Jun is heading back to Chinese cinemas in a leading role. Pledis Entertainment confirmed on the 21st that Jun has been cast as Su Cheng, the male lead of Zhongsheng 2 (重生2), which opens in China on October 3.

The character is a man who has drifted from place to place for years in search of a missing younger brother, a quiet, determined figure at the center of what is otherwise a propulsive action story. The film follows two protagonists who uncover a sprawling criminal conspiracy and risk their lives in pursuit of revenge.

A notable cast around him

Jun's co-star is Isabella Leong (梁洛施), the actress known internationally for her appearance in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Also joining the cast are Hong Kong action legend Sammo Hung (洪金宝) and the versatile character actor Bai Ke (白客), giving the production a cast that spans multiple generations of Chinese-language cinema.

Festival recognition alongside the casting

The announcement comes on the back of a busy few days for Jun on the Chinese film circuit. He attended the opening ceremony of the 13th Silk Road International Film Festival in Xi'an on the 19th and 20th, where he appeared as an overseas promotional ambassador for the festival.

Earlier in August, he received a nomination certificate after being shortlisted for Best Actor at the Hundred Flowers Awards, one of China's largest mainstream film prizes. For a K-pop idol building a parallel acting career in the Chinese market, a Hundred Flowers nomination is a measurable signal that the industry is taking his work seriously.
