TWICE's Dahyun has been cast as Gureum, a 17-year-old art club student who decides to visit the school pool because she wants to draw a swimmer's abs, in the new film Cloud Rolls (Korean title: Gureumi Gureumi). Actor Cha Woo-min plays the swimmer she meets there, and the production is aiming for a release next year.

The story follows a cheerful girl who has used a wheelchair all her life and a promising swimmer carrying private wounds, as the two become important to each other. It is a first-love teen romance, and the pairing of a bright lead with a guarded one is the engine of the premise.

The characters at the center

Gureum has lived with paralysis of the lower body for all 17 years of her life. The film frames her as upbeat and confident, someone proud enough of her wheelchair to have chosen a flashy pink one. Her trip to the pool, sketchbook in mind, is what brings her to Junsan.

Junsan, played by Cha Woo-min, has striking looks and an ideal athlete's build, yet he carries insecurities he rarely shows anyone. He changes bit by bit as he gets closer to Gureum. Still, he is drawn to her while a long-built sense of self-doubt keeps him from opening up easily.

Who is behind it

Director Choi Sun-min takes the helm. Choi previously worked as a co-director on JTBC's King the Land, The Atypical Family style dramas listed in the source as Miss Night and Day and Waiting for Gyeongdo, so this appears to be a step into leading a project.

Dahyun has continued acting with credits including Our Times style titles listed in the source as Those Years We Were Crazy About, Sprint and Love Me. Cha Woo-min is known for Treasure Island, Study Group and Office Worker of My Favorite.

The production team asked viewers to look forward to how two actors with different charms portray the flutter and growing pains of first love. No release date has been announced beyond the goal of next year.
