Jeon Do-yeon's Possible Love Trailer Lands With Venice Grand Jury Prize Behind It
Netflix's final trailer for Lee Chang-dong's Possible Love runs 2:15 and opens on Jeon Do-yeon singing. It also carries rave reviews and a first for Korean cinema at Venice. The film arrives on the 6th of next month.

The final trailer for Possible Love opens on Jeon Do-yeon's Mi-ok singing "Saranbakke Nan Molla," smiling in a way that looks, somehow, deeply sorrowful. The 2-minute-15-second trailer for Lee Chang-dong's film dropped on Netflix on the 21st, ahead of its streaming debut.
That opening image sets the tone. Mi-ok laughs, but the sadness in her eyes does the real talking.
A marriage under the camera
Later, she describes her husband Ho-seok (Sol Kyung-gu) as someone with something inside him that is frightening to pull out. The line hints at the hard stretch he has been living through.
Ye-ji (Jo Yeo-jeong), a documentary director, watches Mi-ok in tears with shining eyes, which leaves viewers wondering what she is really feeling behind the camera. The trailer then shows the two women growing closer than interviewer and subject. Yet when Mi-ok looks at Ye-ji and her husband Sang-woo (Jo In-sung), a more complicated emotion surfaces.
Ye-ji's invitation to a joint vacation, the visit to a villa, and flashes of Mi-ok and Ho-seok's past are cut together. They raise the question of what this meeting of two couples will set off.
Reviews and trophies on display
The trailer also leans on international praise. IndieWire, which gave the film its top rating, called it a work by Lee Chang-dong that is breathtaking enough to stop the heart. New York Magazine described it as a film that will endure across eras. Variety called it a radiant, deeply resonant work from the greatest living director.
The awards are listed too. Possible Love became the first Korean film to win the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival, and it also took the TIFF Ebert Director Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Possible Love streams on Netflix on the 6th of next month.
