Dahyun's Third Acting Project in Two Years Pairs Her With Cha Woomin in New Film

TWICE member Dahyun has been confirmed as the female lead in the upcoming film Gureumi Gureumi, with actor Cha Woomin cast opposite her as the male lead. The two completed a script reading ahead of production, and production company ANP Entertainment confirmed the casting on the 22nd.

The film and its director

Gureumi Gureumi is a youth romance following an art student and a sports scholarship athlete who start out as bickering opposites before gradually becoming a source of comfort for each other. Dahyun plays Oh Gureum, an art major whose wit matches any rudeness she encounters; Cha Woomin plays Kim Junsan, a swimmer on an athletic scholarship.

Directing the project is Choi Sunmin, who previously co-directed three JTBC dramas: King the Land, The Woman Who Couldn't Stop Working at Night, and Waiting for Gyeongdo. His involvement signals a production with some pedigree behind it, even before cameras roll.

Dahyun's expanding screen career

Dahyun debuted with TWICE in 2015 and began pursuing acting in earnest last year. Her first leading film role came in a Korean remake of the Taiwanese film You Are the Apple of My Eye, where her portrayal of a delicate first love drew broadly positive reviews. She followed that with a role as a track-and-field athlete in the film Full Sprint and a book editor chasing a writing career in the drama Love Me. Each role has been notably different from the last, which seems to be a deliberate strategy rather than coincidence.

Gureumi Gureumi will be her second film lead, and the casting continues a pattern that has formed quickly: in roughly two years, she has moved from her debut acting credit to a sustained slate of varied screen roles.

Cha Woomin's rising profile

Cha Woomin debuted in 2021 via the web drama Florida Spot and has built his reputation steadily since, with credits in Weak Hero Class 1, Study Group, Treasure Island, and History of Confessions. He is most associated with school-set action dramas, where his physicality and intensity stood out, but the recently concluded tvN drama My Favorite Employee showed him handling a supporting romantic lead with equal ease.

His Study Group character, a villain role, will continue into that series' second season, due sometime in late 2026 or early 2027. He has also been confirmed for the upcoming drama 50 Days of Some alongside actress Jang Da-ah, meaning Gureumi Gureumi joins an already active schedule.

For both actors, the film represents a step up in visibility: a theatrical romance with a seasoned director, built around two performers who are still early enough in their screen careers that the casting feels like a bet worth watching.
