BTS's MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix) music video crossed 1.6 billion YouTube views at around 6:37 p.m. on the 16th, Big Hit Music confirmed on the 17th. It is only the fourth BTS music video ever to reach that threshold, joining Dynamite, Boy With Luv ("A Poem for Small Things"), and DNA.

The remix itself has a specific origin story worth remembering. BTS originally included MIC Drop on their fifth mini-album, and globally renowned DJ Steve Aoki reimagined it as an electro-trap track, giving the song a harder, club-ready edge. Released in November 2017, the remix debuted at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking a significant early moment in the group's crossover into the American mainstream.

The music video that has now racked up those 1.6 billion views was praised from the start for matching the track's intensity: a sharp visual aesthetic, high-energy editing, and all seven members delivering a performance that leaned into the song's swagger. That combination of MIC Drop's brass-and-bass aggression with the electro-trap production made it one of the more kinetic entries in BTS's catalog, and the numbers suggest it has kept finding new listeners nearly a decade on.

ARIRANG tour continues in South America

The milestone arrives while BTS is deep into the ARIRANG world tour, which Big Hit Music has described as the largest-scale world tour in K-pop history. Next month, on the 2nd and 3rd, the group heads to Bogotá, Colombia to kick off the South American leg of the run. Theater screenings of their Argentina and Brazil concerts have already been announced for global audiences, a sign of just how wide the demand has spread.

For a group that spent years building its YouTube presence one record at a time, watching MIC Drop Remix quietly climb into the 1.6 billion club while they are actively touring feels like a reminder of how deep the catalog runs.
