Disney+ Reveals 'Soolae Game,' a New Chase Survival Show Coming This September

Disney+ has announced Soolae Game (술래게임), a new survival variety show slated to premiere in September. The series comes from director Hyun Jung-wan, who built his reputation on the Blood Game franchise, one of Korean streaming's more durable survival formats, which gives Soolae Game a measurable head start in genre credibility before a single episode airs.

The show's premise centers on thirteen players competing across unpredictable chase sequences and psychological standoffs. Rather than isolating physical or strategic ability, the format is designed to reward what the production calls an "all-rounder" player: someone capable of performing under the physical pressure of a pursuit while simultaneously reading and manipulating the hidden tagger's behavior. The tension between those two demands is the engine the show is built around.

The cast leans toward recognizable names from outside the idol or actor mainstream. Former professional baseball player and broadcaster Hwang Jae-gyun and ex-UDT (Naval Special Warfare Command) member Yuk Jun-seo bring athletic and tactical backgrounds. Beach volleyball player Shin Ji-eun and former national wrestling representative Jang Eun-sil round out the sports contingent. On the entertainment side, the lineup includes actor Gyeong Su-jin, announcer Park Ji-min, singer Yang Da-il, and YouTubers Bbani Bottle and Malwang, both of whom have built substantial Korean followings through travel and challenge content.

That mix of backgrounds is worth noting. Korean survival formats have increasingly moved toward casting people with verifiable physical or strategic credentials rather than assembling lineups primarily for celebrity pull. The Blood Game series leaned in that direction, and Soolae Game appears to continue it.

Disney+ has not yet announced a specific premiere date beyond September.
