EJAE Moved Her Wedding Up 30 Days and Across an Ocean After KPop Demon Hunters

EJAE, the singer-songwriter behind KPop Demon Hunters and its hit song "Golden," married producer and composer Sam Kim on the 17th in a garden ceremony at Stage 28 in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul. The wedding was not announced beforehand, and it came a month ahead of the California ceremony the couple had planned for November, according to Vogue, which published the details on the 20th.

The move was driven by a schedule that never really cleared after the Netflix film's success. The couple got engaged in June 2025, then paused planning through a long promotional run and awards season. They settled on a Seoul wedding about four months before the date, partly to bring their Korean roots into the day. EJAE told Vogue the process was hectic and stressful, but that everything fell into place perfectly.

A venue with family history

Stage 28 sits on the former residential grounds of EJAE's maternal grandfather, veteran actor Shin Young-kyun, who is 99, and now houses the Shin Young-kyun Arts & Culture Foundation. EJAE is the daughter of Shin Hye-jin, Shin's daughter and Vice Chair of Seyoung Enterprise. The place holds her childhood memories of her grandparents, and her older brother was also married there. She and Sam Kim had attended an awards ceremony and a celebration of Shin's 99th birthday at the same site on the 15th, two days before the wedding.

The day began with a traditional Korean pyebaek ceremony at a fusion Korean restaurant in Seoul. The main ceremony followed outdoors in the garden under a nature-inspired theme.

Dresses, band and street food

EJAE wore a custom tulle gown by designer Danielle Frankel with heirloom jewelry. For the reception, which extended into a greenhouse, she changed into a Zac Posen dress and later a mini dress from Milla Nova. Sam Kim wore a double-breasted tuxedo from Bhambi's Custom Tailors in New York, then a custom white Zac Posen tuxedo.

Speeches were delivered in both Korean and English. The wedding band After Eight played a set list the couple chose themselves, and an outdoor tent served Korean-style street food. Afterward the couple and a small group of guests carried on in Itaewon.

How they got here

The two met at a music session in May 2017 and have spent about eight years as creative partners and a couple, living in Brooklyn, New York. A former SM Entertainment trainee, EJAE has written for Red Velvet ("Psycho") and aespa ("Drama" and "Armageddon"), and has also worked with TWICE. She sang as Rumi, lead vocalist of the fictional group HUNTR/X, and "Golden" won Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 68th Grammy Awards. Sam Kim works as a producer, composer and computer programmer.
