G-Dragon Documentary in Production at Disney+, Set for 2027 Release
Disney+ has a G-Dragon documentary in active production, with a 2027 release expected to follow the conclusion of Big Bang's 20th-anniversary world tour. The project will trace G-Dragon's solo career and his role in Big Bang, according to an industry source. Disney+ Korea declined to provide an official statement.

A G-Dragon documentary is in production at Disney+, with people close to the artist already being contacted by the production team as of July, as told by an industry source. The project sits inside a broader pattern of major streaming platforms investing in career-spanning documentaries for artists whose influence extends well beyond a single fan base.
According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the documentary will trace G-Dragon's impact on K-pop, covering both his solo work and his years with Big Bang. An exact release date has not been set, but the expectation within the industry is that the project will be timed to land after Big Bang wraps its current world tour.
"Production of a G-Dragon documentary for Disney+ is currently underway," the source said. "It seems production will probably continue through the finale of Big Bang's current world tour. I expect its release could be timed after the tour's conclusion."
The tour that shapes the timeline
Big Bang's 20th-anniversary world tour, titled XX: Cosmos, began at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi Province on August 21. YG Entertainment has announced 33 concerts across 19 cities, with the current schedule running through February in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, though additional dates may still be added. Anchoring a documentary release to the tour's close would give Disney+ a natural promotional window and a built-in audience already paying attention to the group.
For a documentary team, the tour also provides a ready supply of live footage and a clear narrative arc, two things that can take months to engineer otherwise. If the timeline holds, a post-February release would put the project sometime in mid-to-late 2027.
A growing relationship with Disney
The documentary would not be the first time G-Dragon and Disney have worked together. In July, his fashion label Peaceminusone collaborated with Disney on a Toy Story-themed project, a joint effort that involved product development and retail experiences. Disney described it at the time as its first Asia-Pacific collaboration with a K-pop artist of that scope. The partnership was built on a product licensing agreement between Disney and Peaceminusone, and it launched in Seoul's Seongsu-dong before expanding to other markets across Asia.
That prior relationship may have laid some of the groundwork for the documentary. When studios and platforms already have a working familiarity with an artist's team, these projects tend to move faster and with fewer clearance complications, particularly where archival material is involved.
Disney+ Korea, asked to comment on the documentary, said it had "no official statement to provide at this time."
