BIGBANG Sells Out MetLife Stadium After 11 Years Away from North America

BIGBANG closed out the North American leg of their 20th anniversary world tour with a full sellout at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on the 11th, with not a single seat left unsold, including restricted-view sections. It is the kind of result that confirms something beyond nostalgia: a second-generation K-pop group, singing almost entirely in Korean, packing one of the largest outdoor venues in the United States.

The show at MetLife, a stadium that has hosted Taylor Swift and Coldplay, capped a run that began with two dates in Oakland, California on the 4th and 5th. Together, those three concerts completed the first North American standalone tour BIGBANG has undertaken since the MADE tour in 2015. Eleven years is a long time, and the demand that greeted the XX: COSMOS dates suggested the fanbase did not spend that time moving on.

What the MetLife stage looked like

The setlist leaned hard on the catalog that built them. Fantastic Baby, Tonight, and Loser anchored the main set, and the members also delivered solo stages from Daesung, Taeyang, and G-Dragon in sequence, which gave the night the texture of a greatest-hits showcase that also doubled as a demonstration of how much individual ground each member covers. The crowd sang back most of the Korean lyrics without prompting, a detail that tends to land differently when you're watching it happen inside a 82,500-capacity stadium.

The members addressed the crowd with a message that carried genuine weight after the years of lineup changes, military service, and public turbulence the group has navigated: "The most precious thing to us is the love you give. Thank you for loving and supporting us for 20 years. It truly feels like a dream to still be performing, and to be doing it in a stadium."

Where the tour goes next

With North America wrapped, BIGBANG moves to Europe. Paris is next on the 19th, followed by London on the 26th. The full XX: COSMOS world tour spans 19 cities and 36 shows in total, with Asia among the regions still to come. For a group marking two decades since their debut, the scale of the itinerary is itself a statement.
