Soyeon's Debut Solo Album Has 8 Tracks and One Very Pointed Message for Cube Entertainment

i-dle's Soyeon revealed the tracklist for her debut solo album, The Glorious Life, in the form of a resignation letter, then posted a photo standing outside Cube Entertainment's building with the caption "I'm quitting." The album drops September 7, and the timing lands two years after she re-signed with the label following a very public contract dispute.

i-dle's Soyeon unveiled the tracklist for her debut solo album The Glorious Life as a resignation letter displayed on a CRT monitor, then walked to Cube Entertainment's headquarters and posted a photo of herself reaching toward the building with the caption: "I'm quitting."

The album lands on September 7 at 6 p.m. KST. It has 8 tracks. And the stated reason for "resignation" written into the promotional material reads: "In order to begin the 'glorious life' I can no longer put off, I hereby resign." Make of that what you will.

The album

The lead single is 퇴사할게여 (rough translation: "I'm Resigning"), featuring narration from webtoon artist and TV personality Gi-an 84, whose deadpan delivery adds a layer of dry comedy to the whole bit. The 8-track lineup mixes genres pretty aggressively: the EDM cut STAR, which fans already caught at festivals and in a music video, sits alongside icebluerabbit, first aired during i-dle's world tour. There's also 야채 싫어 송 ("I Hate Vegetables Song"), described as a hook-heavy pop track, and Amigo (feat. Minsu), which samples Madonna's Like A Virgin and reportedly does something genuinely new with it. Rounding out the tracklist: Bankroll, 그냥 사랑하면 안 될까, and 낭만 보내기.

Soyeon co-wrote and produced every track on the album, which is on-brand for one of K-pop's most hands-on songwriter-producers. She worked with producers Groovyroom and R.Tee on the project.

The history that makes this read differently

Here's where context matters. Soyeon has been publicly sideways with Cube for a while. In August 2024, before her contract was set to expire, she performed concert material that many read as a direct shot at the label: lyrics that referenced a November contract end date and lines roughly translating to "who's going to stop me" and questioning whether she needed to watch her back. Cube responded by calling it a performance concept. Soyeon then confirmed on her personal channel that yes, it was a dig, while also saying she held no wholesale resentment toward the company given more than a decade of shared history.

She re-signed anyway. That was nearly two years ago.

So when she shows up outside Cube's building, posts a photo, types "I'm quitting," and drops a tracklist formatted as a resignation letter for an album literally titled The Glorious Life, fans are going to read the subtext, and the timing is suspicious enough that they're probably not wrong to. Whether it's pure promo theater or something more pointed, Soyeon has made this her signature move: put the tension in the art and let everyone else figure out where the performance ends.

The album drops September 7.
