All-White Everything: Han So-hee's Boucheron Debut Answers Her Critics

Han So-hee arrived at a Boucheron high-jewelry event in Seoul's Hannam-dong on the 7th with platinum blonde hair swept low and a white column dress that ran from a jeweled neckline to the floor, and the look made the online noise about her appearance look exactly as petty as it was.

The dress left her shoulders bare, and she matched it with white strap heels, keeping the palette consistent from head to foot. Boucheron's pieces layered over the neckline added the only contrast. The following day, she posted several photos from the event on her social media, and the images circulated quickly.

The comment that started it

The appearance came shortly after Han attended a segment on producer Na Young-seok's YouTube channel, where some viewers responded by calling her appearance evidence of what they termed 급노화, roughly "sudden aging." The phrase got enough traction online to reach general entertainment coverage.

Han had, in fact, addressed this kind of commentary directly during that same YouTube appearance. She said she was preparing herself mentally for the negative comments that aging would eventually bring, and that her plan was simply to think: "Fine, I've gotten older. What are you going to do about it?" It is a position that takes more composure than most people manage at 32.

What comes next

Han So-hee, born in 1993, is currently in production on the film The Intern, where she plays Sunwoo, the CEO of a fashion company, opposite Choi Min-sik. The casting alone signals a shift in register for her: the role calls for a particular kind of composed authority, and the Boucheron outing suggested she has been practicing.
