When Im Young-woong walked out at Goyang Sports Complex and opened with his debut single, the entire stadium turned sky blue within seconds. Fans in matching light blue shirts, couples in coordinated outfits, lightsticks raised in the fandom's signature color: the crowd that packed the venue over three nights from September 4 to 6 had come dressed for a celebration.

And there was plenty to celebrate. His agency Fish Music confirmed on the 7th that the three-night run of IM HERO - THE STADIUM 2 drew approximately 95,000 attendees in total, pushing Im Young-woong's cumulative concert audience past 1 million across his career. For an artist who debuted in 2016 and is marking his 10th anniversary this year, the milestone carries real weight.

"Ten years ago and today, the one thing that hasn't changed is that feeling of excitement on the way to meet you," he told the crowd, pausing to add that he'd stepped onstage with the mindset of debuting all over again.

A three-hour, 29-song marathon

The second night on the 5th, which ran for roughly three hours and covered 29 songs, gave a clear picture of what made the run special. Im Young-woong worked through a setlist that spanned his entire decade: hits like "Sarangeun Neul Domangga," "모래 알갱이," "Sunganul Yeongwoncheoreom," and "Dasi Mannal Su Isseulkka" sat alongside a full live premiere of all ten tracks from IM HERO 10, the special digital album set to release on the 8th.

The new material landed hard. A Latin-flavored dance track called "Baila" opened the new-music segment with a sharp group choreography, and the title track "Toto" followed, leaning on Im Young-woong's warm, unhurried vocal style. "New York" rounded out the early preview. The crowd, which had been loud all evening, responded with audible surprise at how polished the unreleased songs already felt in a live setting.

Older material held its own too. "Mujigae" (Rainbow) got a full dance arrangement with backup dancers, while "Dasi Mannal Su Isseulkka" became one of those moments where the scale of the room actually worked in the performance's favor, the kind of sweeping ballad that sounds biggest when it's bouncing off a stadium roof. A cover of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" added a warmer, more intimate middle section to what was otherwise a high-production spectacle.

The staging went the distance

The production design matched the ambition. A water screen framed "Injangchanga," fireworks accompanied "HERO," and a drone show painted patterns in the sky above the outdoor venue. An extended thrust stage reached deep into the floor section so Im Young-woong could get closer to the crowd, and he used it, pausing mid-show to gently ask fans in the upper sections to stay seated and take care of themselves.

"My concert has no guests," he said from that extended platform. "If I could invite one act, it would be you. Now sing along with me."

Ten years, next ten years

The most personal moment of the night came when Im Young-woong talked through an artistic question he's been sitting with. He said fans often tell him they love his voice because it sounds like he's talking through a song rather than just singing it, and for a long time he leaned into that consciously, trying to build a story inside every track. At some point, he said, he realized he didn't have to manufacture the narrative: "Every song is already someone's story. I'll just lend my voice to it, one song at a time." He visibly teared up during the subsequent performances of "Ongi" and "Eoneu 60dae Nobubu Iyagi."

The closer brought a more straightforward declaration. "Ten years have passed since I stood in front of you as Im Young-woong," he said. "For some of you that feels long, for others it might feel like a flash. Either way, it was precious and I'm grateful. I want to spend the next ten years with you too. Until the day every single member of Youngwoong-sidae is in the same place together, I'll keep singing."

With IM HERO 10 dropping on the 8th, that next chapter is already in motion.
