IVE's Jang Wonyoung Revealed Her Late-Night Hotel Skincare Ritual, and There's One Part Dermatologists Would Tweak
IVE's Jang Wonyoung shared her post-concert hotel routine on the group's official YouTube channel, revealing that she heads straight to the bathroom to cleanse and shower for nearly an hour before doing anything else. The habit has a solid skincare rationale, though dermatologists draw the line at a few of the specifics.

IVE's Jang Wonyoung goes straight to the bathroom after a concert, before food, before rest, and spends close to an hour there. She shared the detail herself on IVE's official YouTube channel, describing her routine after wrapping a Montreal show.
"First thing when I get to the hotel, I go straight to the bathroom," she said. "I cleanse thoroughly and properly, then shower for almost an hour. I'm the type who absolutely cannot feel okay unless I've cleaned my body 100 percent, so I wash, wash again, and scrub. I consider shower time really important."
The preference is striking enough that she framed it as a personality trait rather than a beauty tip: no matter how exhausting the performance, cleansing comes before eating.

Why the habit actually holds up
Stage makeup runs heavy, foundation through eye and lip layers, and a full concert adds sweat and sebum on top of all of it. Leaving that combination on the skin overnight raises the likelihood of clogged pores and breakouts, so removing it promptly after a high-sweat performance is genuinely good practice. The dermatological logic is straightforward: the longer makeup and impurities sit on skin, the more opportunity they have to cause irritation.
For heavy stage makeup specifically, the standard advice is to dissolve it first with an oil-based or balm cleanser before following up with a gentler water-based wash. Wonyoung's immediate post-show cleanse fits that principle well. The timing alone, not waiting until morning, is the part worth copying.
Where to pull back
The scrubbing and the full hour are a different matter. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends five to ten minutes in lukewarm water to avoid stripping the skin's natural oils; hot water held for a long time accelerates moisture loss and can leave skin tight and irritated. Physical scrubbing, done frequently or with heavy pressure, carries the same risk, particularly for anyone with sensitive or already-dry skin.
So the takeaway from Wonyoung's routine is more selective than it first appears. The habit that actually transfers is the refusal to sleep in stage makeup, not the hour-long duration or the repeated scrubbing. After showering, patting rather than rubbing dry, then applying a moisturizer while the skin is still slightly damp, helps lock in what the cleansing process can otherwise strip out.
The discipline of the routine is real. The specific parameters are hers.
