KCM Marries After 14 Years, Three Kids, and One Very Specific Wish
Singer KCM will finally hold a formal wedding ceremony on October 4, fourteen years after the birth of his first daughter. Korea's top MC Yoo Jae-suk will host, and Kim Bum-soo will perform, exactly as KCM's wife had hoped.

Singer KCM and his wife Bang Ye-won are walking down the aisle on October 4, fourteen years after welcoming their first daughter together. The ceremony will take place at Floating Island on Seoul's Saevit Island, and the guest list alone tells you how warmly the couple is regarded in Korean entertainment: Yoo Jae-suk, widely known as Korea's 'National MC', will host the proceedings, and veteran vocalist Kim Bum-soo will perform the celebratory song.
What makes the MC choice especially touching is where it came from. Back in April, on the KBS 2TV family show Superman Is Back, KCM asked Bang Ye-won on camera who she'd want to host their wedding. Her answer was immediate: "I'd love for Yoo Jae-seok-ssi to do it." That wish has now become the plan. Yoo Jae-suk, known for never turning down close friends' wedding hosting requests despite his packed schedule, agreed without hesitation.

A friendship built on variety television
The bond between Yoo Jae-suk and KCM runs deeper than a casual acquaintance doing a favor. The two connected in 2016 when KCM appeared on Yoo's JTBC show To You Project: Sugar Man during a quieter stretch of his career. The more significant chapter came in 2021, when Yoo Jae-suk formed the male vocal group MSG Wannabe on his MBC variety program Hangout with Yoo and picked KCM as a member. That project gave KCM a genuine second wind, reintroducing him to a generation of viewers who knew his voice but hadn't seen him on screen in years.
Kim Bum-soo's connection to KCM goes back even further and carries a different kind of weight. In December 2022, KCM appeared on the tvN show Amazing Saturday and described Kim Bum-soo plainly: "Kim Bum-soo is my singing mentor. When I was about to give up on being a singer, he was the one who told me to absolutely never quit." On a 2024 episode of Knowing Bros, KCM added a detail that stuck with fans: even as a trainee, Kim Bum-soo had bowed deeply to him at their first meeting. "His character," KCM said, "is like Jo In-sung's." Given all of that, Kim Bum-soo standing at the front of the room to sing feels less like a performance booking and more like the closing of a long circle.
Fourteen years in the making
The story behind this wedding is, by any measure, a patient one. KCM and Bang Ye-won began dating in 2012, when she was nine years his junior, and their first daughter Suyeon was born that same year. Military service and subsequent business difficulties meant a formal ceremony never happened. They filed for legal marriage in 2021, but the pandemic reduced their celebration to a small private commitment ceremony with family, with a proper wedding deferred to a later date. A second daughter, Seoyeon, arrived in 2022, and last year the family grew again with the birth of their son Haon, making them a household of five.
The wedding invitation, obtained ahead of the announcement, carries the line: "14 years of love, and we make the promise once more." In their own words, the couple wrote that through joyful days and difficult ones, they had come to understand that love is ultimately about staying beside each other for a long time. "As this is a wedding long in the making," they added, "we have prepared it with hearts that have only grown deeper, and with gratitude."
The ceremony will be filmed for Superman Is Back, so viewers will get to see it. Bang Ye-won drew some attention of her own after making her public appearance, with fans noting a resemblance to NewJeans' Minji. KCM has also been sharing quieter family moments through his YouTube channel, Kegane, for those who want more than what the broadcast covers. After fourteen years, three children, and one very public wish finally granted, October 4 has a lot riding on it.
