NewJeans' Haerin is about to step back into the spotlight, and fans are paying close attention. On September 7, she is set to attend a luxury beauty brand photocall at Lotte Department Store's Jamsil branch in Seoul's Songpa district, her first time facing press since returning to ADOR.

The event will bring together a notable lineup that also includes figure skating legend Kim Yuna, actor Nam Joo-hyuk, Red Velvet's Joy, Shin Ye-eun, Kim Jae-won, and models Irene and Bae Yoon-young. But for NewJeans fans, the focus is squarely on Haerin.

Haerin has been an ambassador for the brand for some time, and the label recently released a photo shoot featuring her, so the photocall appearance feels like a natural next step rather than an abrupt return. Still, it carries real weight: she becomes the first member of NewJeans to stand in front of cameras in an official press capacity since the group began finding its footing again within ADOR.

Where each member stands

NewJeans publicly declared the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR in November 2024. After the courts sided with ADOR on an injunction request, Haerin and Hyein returned to the agency in November of last year, followed by Hanni in December. Danielle has continued to pursue a contract termination and remains in ongoing legal proceedings. Minji, meanwhile, is reportedly still in discussions about her return.

With Haerin now moving into brand commitments and Minji's situation unresolved, questions about the group's future shape keep circulating. Last month, a special film marking the group's fourth debut anniversary featured Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein together, prompting widespread speculation that a four-member formation is effectively confirmed, even without an official announcement.

Whether Haerin's individual schedule signals broader group activity on the way is still an open question, but this photocall is the clearest sign yet that NewJeans, in some form, is moving forward.
