Kim Ji-min Announces Pregnancy After First IVF Attempt: 'We Dreamed of Three'

Korean comedian Kim Ji-min announced her pregnancy on her social media account, revealing that the first round of IVF was a success. She and her husband, fellow comedian Kim Joon-ho, married in July 2025 after three years of dating, and Kim Ji-min had publicly shared earlier that the couple was pursuing IVF to start a family.

In her post, Kim Ji-min wrote that in 2025 the two of them became forever, and in 2026 they became the three they had always dreamed of. She described the baby as a beautiful life that had found its way to her. The couple has already given the baby a nickname: Durubi, a soft, affectionate placeholder name in the Korean tradition of taemyeong, or pre-birth nicknames.

Kim Ji-min was candid about the path to pregnancy. Before starting IVF, she spent roughly two months focusing on her own health at her doctors' insistence, a period she described with characteristic humor. She joked that she had been scolded by her medical team for neglecting her own body, and that once she received a clean bill of health, she immediately pushed the doctors to start the procedure on the spot before anyone could change their mind. She recalled her doctor finally breaking into a warm smile and agreeing. The IVF worked on the first try.

During that period of health preparation, she wrote, she found herself reflecting on her own mother and how desperately her mother must have wished for her, too. It was a moment of unexpected gratitude that she said pushed her to take better care of herself.

Kim Joon-ho posted his own response, calling the pregnancy a small miracle that arrived like a fairytale. He described looking forward to meeting their child in good health, and said a new chapter of their family's story had begun.

The announcement had been an open secret among fans who had been asking questions for some time. Kim Ji-min noted with a laugh in her post that keeping the news quiet had been unusually hard for someone with her reputation for talking freely, and that Durubi deserved full credit for her uncharacteristic silence. She also jokingly thanked ChatGPT for listening to everything she could not say out loud during those months.

The couple, both KBS comedians who first connected as senior and junior colleagues, confirmed their relationship in 2022.
