Kim Moo Yul to Hold His First Fan Meeting in 27 Years After Netflix Breakout

Actor Kim Moo Yul debuted in 1999, and for 27 years he never held an official fan meeting. That changes on August 23, when he takes the stage at Gavin Art Hall in Seoul for 2026 KIM MOO YUL 1st FANMEETING 마주 (Maju), a milestone that arrives on the back of his most widely seen role to date.

The timing is not accidental. Kim recently appeared in the Netflix series Chamgyoyuk as Na Hwa-jin, a school authority protection inspector whose commanding presence and action sequences drew strong reviews from both domestic and international viewers. For an actor with a career spanning three decades, the global platform has opened up a new layer of visibility that a fan meeting can now meaningfully capitalize on.

Kim named the event himself. Maju is a pure Korean word meaning to face or look toward one another, and he chose it to convey the kind of closeness he wants with the audience: not a performance at them, but a moment with them. The program will include a mix of conversation, stage performances, and other formats that the team has not yet detailed.

A poster released alongside the announcement shows Kim in a white suit paired with distinctive glasses, carrying the quiet, weighted presence he is known for. The image gestures at a slightly different register from his recent screen work, which may be part of the point.

Kim's filmography covers a wide range of formats. He debuted in the film Saigan before building credits in musicals including Kinky Boots and Thrill Me, television dramas such as Bad Guys: Vile City and Trolley, and Netflix series Juvenile Justice and Sweet Home seasons two and three. On the film side, his credits include War of the Arrows, Forgotten, The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil, Confidential Assignment 2, and Crime City 4.
