Actor Kim Sun-ah wrote on the 15th that Blin-i, the cat her late friend Sulli raised like a daughter, has become "my daughter, and my strength to live, my love, my happiness." The post, shared on her personal blog and social media, marked the seventh anniversary of Sulli's death on October 14, 2019, at age 25.

Kim opened by describing Sulli as a soul mate. "The world without my friend still feels like it is drying up," she wrote, but a small light returned to her life after she brought Blin-i home. Pet adoption after a loss is common enough, though it is rarely described this plainly by a public figure about a friend who has died.

Remembering Sulli as someone who made rooms brighter

Kim recalled Sulli as a person who was always shining. She did not need to show off, Kim wrote, because the people around her brightened naturally when she was near. Even a single word, an expression or an ordinary afternoon together stayed with her for a long time.

For that reason, she said, the empty space Sulli left could not be explained as simple sadness. "It felt less like one friend had disappeared and more like one of the lights in my world had gone out." She added that time does not remove longing so much as teach you, little by little, how to live alongside it.

Kim said she had believed she lost her light along with her friend. Looking back, she wrote, she realized Sulli had not let her own light disappear entirely: "She left me the one she loved most."

Blin-i now looks at her and spends each day with her, Kim said, and she feels Sulli's love every time she looks at the cat.

She closed the post by speaking to Sulli directly. Seven years have passed, she wrote, but she still remembers her, and she is living today with the child Sulli loved, "holding the light you left and loving that light again."
