Park Narae Breaks 8-Month Social Media Silence to Congratulate Close Friend Kang Gyun-sung's Wedding

Comedian Park Narae has been off Korean screens since December 2024, when she stepped back from all broadcast activities following a legal dispute with a former manager. On the 4th, she made her first traceable move on social media in eight months: a like on Kang Gyun-sung's wedding announcement post.

Kang Gyun-sung, a member of the Korean ballad group Noel, shared the news himself on the 3rd through his personal account. He wrote that he had found someone he wants to walk through life with and that the two will marry on October 30 at an undisclosed venue in Seoul. His agency, S27M Entertainment, followed with an official statement the next day, confirming he will wed actress Yoo Ha-jin and describing the relationship as built on deep mutual trust and affection. The statement added that Kang plans to continue working as an artist after the wedding.

The announcement drew a wave of congratulations from fellow entertainers. Park Narae's response was quiet by comparison, just a like, but it registered precisely because she has been so absent. The two have been close friends since 2018, when they crossed paths on the MBC every1 variety show Video Star, where Kang appeared and Park served as MC. What started as a hallway acquaintance became a genuine friendship sustained through mutual follows and regular interactions on each other's posts.

Park Narae's current hiatus stems from a multi-sided legal dispute involving her former manager, referred to publicly only as Mr. A. The allegations include attempted blackmail, embezzlement, workplace harassment, and assault, with both parties having filed counter-complaints. She announced the activity suspension on her own SNS in December 2024, and subsequently withdrew from the programs she had been appearing on. She briefly surfaced in February 2025 in the Disney+ reality series Destiny War 49, but has otherwise remained out of the public eye.

A liked post is a small thing. But given that Park Narae has made no other public move in eight months, the gesture reads as a deliberate one: a sign that her friendships, at least, are intact while she waits for the legal process to run its course.
