OMONAR

Kang Gyun-sung, best known as a member of veteran Korean ballad group Noel, posted a set of wedding photos on social media on the 14th that stopped a scroll almost immediately, not for their glamour, but for their deliberate stillness. Styled to evoke an old-master portrait rather than a conventional wedding spread, the images carry warm brown tones, antique furniture, floral arrangements, and two subjects posed with the kind of composed restraint you'd expect from a 17th-century canvas rather than a photo studio.

"I wanted to leave behind something special," Kang wrote alongside the photos. "While brainstorming and discussing the concept, the idea of making it feel like a painting from a classic masterpiece came up, and watching that idea take shape into actual photographs made me genuinely happy with what we created."

He also gave credit to his agency head for contributing props that, in his words, "added a story to the photographs and brought a more distinctive atmosphere to the whole thing." The objects in question, a lush potted plant on a wooden table and a small traditional serving tray holding a green apple, function as quiet compositional anchors rather than decoration.

The shoot itself

In the photos, Kang wears a refined beige suit that leans into the classical feel of the concept without tipping into costume. His fiancée, actress Yoo Ha-jin, is dressed in a corseted gown with vertical paneling that draws a clean line through the frame, a choice that reads as much about composition as it does about the dress itself. The overall color treatment reinforces the mood: muted, portrait-warm, unhurried.

It's a considered departure from the high-contrast, dramatically lit wedding shoots that tend to circulate on Korean celebrity social media. The restraint here feels intentional, and Kang seems aware of it: "I'm grateful that we could leave behind something so special for a precious once-in-a-lifetime moment," he added. "Please look forward to more sides of us that we'll be sharing one by one."

What comes next

Kang Gyun-sung and Yoo Ha-jin announced their engagement earlier this year and drew warm attention at the start of this month when Kang shared footage of his proposal. The two are scheduled to marry on October 30 at an undisclosed venue in Seoul. Yoo Ha-jin is 14 years younger than Kang, a detail the couple themselves have referenced openly, and one that fans have taken largely in stride given how naturally the two appear together in the images they've shared so far.
