Four Years After a Private Wedding, Park Shin-hye Now Has Two Children

Park Shin-hye gave birth to a healthy baby girl on September 22, her agency Salt Entertainment announced that morning. The arrival makes her and husband Choi Tae-joon parents of two: their first child, a son, was born in May 2022, the same year the couple married in a private ceremony.

Salt Entertainment confirmed that both mother and child are in good condition. "Park Shin-hye is currently resting comfortably, surrounded by the love and care of her family," the agency said in a statement. It added thanks to fans who sent congratulations and asked for continued warm wishes for the newborn.

A career built on Korean Wave dramas

Park Shin-hye, 36, debuted in 2003 in a music video for singer Lee Seung-hwan before building one of the more durable acting careers of her generation through a run of major SBS dramas: Stairway to Heaven, You're Beautiful, The Heirs, and Pinocchio. That string of roles established her as a recognizable face of the Korean Wave internationally through the late 2000s and into the 2010s.

Her most recent project was the tvN drama Undercover Miss Hong, which concluded its run in March after she filmed it while pregnant with her second child. She has not taken on new work since. Choi Tae-joon, 35, who debuted in the 2001 drama Piano, last appeared in the KBS2 family drama Ironing Family, which wrapped in early 2024.

The timing reflects a pattern that has become more common among high-profile Korean actors: a deliberate step back from the production cycle around major life events, without a formal hiatus announcement. Both are represented by agencies that have kept statements minimal, consistent with how the couple has handled personal news since their 2022 wedding.
