Search For Perry, YG's Missing Producer, Grows After 16 Years
SBS's investigative program is searching for YG producer Perry, who disappeared in 2010. His connections to BIGBANG and other artists highlight his importance in K-pop history.

SBS Launches Investigation
SBS TV's investigative program 그것이 알고 싶다 (I Want to Know That) has officially begun searching for Perry, a rapper and producer known for his foundational contributions to YG Entertainment. Perry, born Perry Thomas Borha, was last seen in Los Angeles in 2010, but his journey in the music scene began much earlier, dating back to the mid-1990s.
On September 17, the production team announced via their social media channels that they are seeking any information regarding Perry's whereabouts. The announcement emphasized that his last known activity was in 2010 after years spent shaping the unique hip-hop sound of YG's roster, including prominent acts like Jinusean, 1TYM, and SE7EN.
Impact on K-Pop
Perry played a pivotal role in establishing the hip-hop roots of YG Entertainment, contributing to a sound that defined the label through the late '90s and early 2000s. He also released a solo album in 2001, further solidifying his position in the industry. One of his final contributions was the Japanese release of BIGBANG's track Beautiful Hangover in 2010, after which he vanished from the public eye.
Long-standing Concerns
The narrative surrounding Perry's disappearance gained further traction in 2021 when an individual claiming to be his nephew filed a missing person's report with the U.S. State Department. This revelation brought attention back to Perry's case, prompting the current investigation and community response to uncover the truth.
The call for information from SBS highlights the concern for Perry's well-being after so many years and invites anyone who might have seen or heard from him to come forward. As the search unfolds, many fans and colleagues continue to hope for news about a figure who significantly shaped the K-pop landscape and whose impact is still felt today.
