Apink's Son Naeun on Being 46kg: 'I've Never Eaten a Full Bowl of Ramen Since Debut'

Son Naeun has never finished a cup ramen by herself since she debuted. That's not a diet tip, that's over a decade of saying no to one of Korea's most basic comfort foods, and she said it on camera with zero drama.

The former Apink member and actress appeared on the YouTube channel Youtube Ha Jiyoung on the 15th, in an episode framed as a convenience store "cheat day" outing. Host Ha Jiyoung said she planned to let loose and pick anything off the shelves. Son Naeun's response stopped the segment cold.

"Honestly, since my debut, I've never eaten a full serving of ramen by myself," she said. "Not even a cup ramen. Not once."

She added that even when the craving hit, she'd allow herself one bite and stop. "I just feel like I shouldn't eat it," she said. The only exception came recently, while shooting the SBS drama Director Kim (Kim Bujang). The schedule ran through winter, the action sequences were physically punishing, and somewhere between the cold and the exhaustion, the wall came down. She went to a convenience store with staff and finished a large cup ramen. First time since debut.

That admission unlocked something. Once inside the convenience store for the episode, Son Naeun reportedly grabbed ramen, snacks, and ice cream in what the show described as a kind of frenzied catch-up.

But the conversation turned more serious when she admitted the self-discipline isn't something she enjoys. "That's become a source of stress lately," she said. Ha Jiyoung pushed back gently: "You don't have to be that strict with yourself. Being that hard on yourself is what wears you out, everyone else stays standing, and you're the one who ends up falling."

Son Naeun's listed profile puts her at 167cm and 46kg. The ramen confession makes those numbers feel a lot less casual.
