Song Hye-kyo is now the global ambassador for Bottega Veneta, the Italian leather house best known for its signature intrecciato weaving technique. The appointment, announced on the 19th, makes her one of the few Korean actresses carrying three major luxury brand roles simultaneously.

Bottega Veneta framed the decision in specific terms. "Song Hye-kyo's singular presence and her enduring connection to fashion, art, and culture align naturally with Bottega Veneta's commitment to craftsmanship and creativity," the brand said in its statement. Creative director Louise Trotter added that her "deep dedication to the wider world of art and to craftsmanship flows naturally into the spirit Bottega Veneta has always pursued," and said she was looking forward to their creative journey ahead.

Song responded briefly and directly: "I am delighted to work with Bottega Veneta. The brand's path in bridging culture and art through craftsmanship and creativity has always impressed me. I look forward to the new journey we will build together."

The campaign images

The first images released with the announcement show a relaxed, layered approach to the brand's current aesthetic. In one look, Song wears a graphic tee with a family patch detail under an orange knit, paired with white trousers in an unusual pattern, the overall effect bright and unhurried. A second look strips things back further: a plain tee tucked into jeans, worn with the kind of quiet confidence that tends to photograph better than it sounds on paper. Both outfits read as deliberate understatement, which fits Bottega Veneta's long-standing aversion to logo-forward styling.

A career built on staying power

Song Hye-kyo debuted in 1996 after winning a school uniform model competition, and the dramas that followed built one of the longest sustained profiles in Korean entertainment: Autumn in My Heart, Full House, Descendants of the Sun, and most recently The Glory, which introduced her to a new generation of international viewers on Netflix.

Later this year she is set to appear in another Netflix original, Slowly and Intensely, a large-scale period drama set against the backdrop of Korea's entertainment world from the 1960s through the 1980s. It follows people chasing their dreams through that era, and the scale of the production has drawn considerable attention ahead of its release.

On the brand side, she has been a Chaumet ambassador since 2018 and currently serves as both the first Asian global ambassador and the overall global ambassador for Guerlain. Bottega Veneta, a Kering Group label founded in 1966 and known for leather goods built without visible logos, is the latest addition to that portfolio. The three houses together cover fine jewelry, beauty, and ready-to-wear, which suggests less a scattershot approach to partnerships and more a considered accumulation of roles in categories she has visibly inhabited for years.
