D.P. Baeksang Winner Jo Hyun-chul Trades Heavy Drama for Comedy in tvN's Hot Goodbye
tvN's Hot Goodbye follows three comedians after ten years without a break. A poster and teaser are out, and the drama premieres Nov. 11 with Kang Hoon, Jo Hyun-chul and Kim Jung-jin.

tvN released a poster and a teaser on the 22nd for its new Friday-Saturday drama Hot Goodbye, which premieres on November 11 at 10:50 p.m. The series follows a three-man comedy troupe that has spent ten years in obscurity, and it is led by Kang Hoon, Jo Hyun-chul and Kim Jung-jin.
The broader context is tvN's habit of building weekend slots around ensemble casts with proven names, and this one leans on two recognizable credits. Kang Hoon plays Kang Tae-gu, the troupe's leader, and he is best known as Hong Deok-ro in MBC's The Red Sleeve, whose final episode reached a 17.4% rating, more than three times its premiere figure. He returns only two months after the recently ended The Idol's Employee, also in a lead role.
Jo Hyun-chul plays Kim Nam-il, the troupe's wit. He won the Baeksang Arts Awards' TV supporting actor prize for playing Private Jo Seok-bong in Netflix's D.P., and the source frames this role as a bet on comedy. Kim Nam-il has been dating his girlfriend Lee Na-yeon (Moon Hee) for ten years, and he is pulled between that relationship and the act. Kim Jung-jin plays Han Jun-seo, the thrifty member who handles the group's household matters. He is warm to his bandmates and guarded with everyone else.

The team behind the camera
Director Jung Ji-hyun, credited for Twenty-Five Twenty-One, The House with a Yard and To My Harry, is directing. Ahn Ah-reum, who wrote Once Again, is the screenwriter, and veteran romantic-comedy writer Yang Hee-seung is attached as creator. Lee I-dam, Moon Hee and Yoon Ga-i complete the main cast.

What the poster and teaser show
The poster presents the troupe, named Asura, on a stage under falling confetti, standing in a human tower with serious faces. Its caption invites viewers to the group's tenth-anniversary show.

The teaser is darker in tone. Kim Nam-il asks, "Does it not count if you're not famous?" Asura still has one devoted fan, Go Eun-yeong (Lee I-dam), a quiet and reserved character who finds comfort in the group. She tells them she cannot give up what she loves even if no one else knows it. Tae-gu answers, "If we were going to end it like this, we wouldn't have started. Let's go all the way." The three then clasp hands and walk toward a cheering stage.
The series frames its premise as a story about choosing what comes next rather than quitting, with the final goodbye to a dream coming only after running at it fully.
