TWICE's Tzuyu Is Leaving JYP After 11 Years - But She's Not Leaving TWICE

TWICE's Tzuyu is parting ways with JYP Entertainment after 11 years - and the group is staying together anyway.

News1 reported on the 14th that Tzuyu and JYP Entertainment have mutually agreed not to renew her contract. The key detail: full TWICE group activities will continue. She's leaving the label, not the team.

Tzuyu debuted with TWICE in 2015 and grew into one of the group's most recognizable faces - lead dancer, visual, and the member who put Taiwan on the TWICE map in a meaningful way. The group's run through that era, from "Cheer Up" to "TT," turned them into what Korean media called the 국민 걸그룹 - the nation's girl group. Tzuyu was a central part of that image.

She's also been quietly building out her own lane. In 2024, she released her first solo mini-album abouTZU, and she's contributed to songwriting for both TWICE tracks and her own solo material. JYP losing her as a solo act is probably the bigger business story here - her profile in Taiwan and across Asia gives her real runway outside the group umbrella.

The timing lands right after TWICE wrapped their sixth world tour, THIS IS FOR, which ran for roughly a year and closed out in strong fashion. Whether Tzuyu's next move is a new agency deal, independent management, or something else hasn't been confirmed yet.

What's confirmed: she'll be onstage with TWICE when TWICE is onstage. The label split doesn't change that - at least for now.
