Cortis Release 'Motion' Featuring Juicy J Ahead of Lollapalooza Debut

Cortis released their new digital single Motion on July 31, with American rapper Juicy J on the feature credit. The release comes less than two days before the group is scheduled to perform at Lollapalooza Chicago, placing the track squarely inside the group's first major U.S. festival push.

Motion is built around the Memphis rap sound, a regional strand of 1990s Southern hip-hop with a characteristically dark, lo-fi aesthetic. That lineage is not an obvious default for a K-pop group under HYBE's Big Hit Music label, and the choice of source material suggests a deliberate effort to position Cortis closer to U.S. hip-hop audiences than most fourth-generation idol acts have attempted.

The members contributed to the songwriting and production. Cortis described the collaboration with Juicy J as something that developed over time, noting that the relationship predates their debut and that the mutual trust it produced shaped how the song was made. Juicy J, a Memphis native and founding member of Three 6 Mafia, brings a direct regional authenticity to the track that a domestic feature could not have provided.

Beyond Lollapalooza, the group has two further dates confirmed: a debut anniversary concert at Korea University's Hwajung Gymnasium in Seoul, running August 22 and 23. The pairing of a major U.S. festival slot with a Seoul anniversary show within the same month reflects the kind of compressed global scheduling that has become standard for HYBE acts in their first and second years.
