ILLIT Turns Heartbreak Into a Warning on 4-Track Mini Album BREAK EVEN
ILLIT unveiled BREAK EVEN at a Seoul showcase. Its title track, "Arrest You," builds its hook and choreography around a whistle, and Bang Si-hyuk produced all four songs.

"Arrest You" is built around a whistle, and ILLIT's members say the whistle choreography is the biggest point of the new title track. Iroha added that part of the performance uses an actual whistle.
The group (Yunah, Wonhee, Minju and Iroha) held a media showcase for their fifth mini album, BREAK EVEN, on the 26th at Blue Square's Woori WON Banking Hall in Yongsan, Seoul. The album was released at 6 p.m. the same day.

A story about refusing a one-sided love
The album's concept follows ILLIT, who had been charging straight toward someone they liked, realizing the feeling was one-sided. They then declare they won't keep a relationship that costs them more than it returns. The title borrows the idea of a break-even point to describe giving more emotionally than you get back.
"Arrest You" is an electro pop track with a hook meant to stick in the ear. Wonhee described it as words for someone who confused the group with habitual kindness. In her telling, it is a firm warning that ILLIT will end a frustrating relationship themselves. Yunah said the whistle appears throughout the song, so it should catch listeners' ears.

Four tracks meant to be heard in order
The four tracks are sequenced to tell the group's story at a turning point in a relationship, and the label says the emotional arc lands best when played in album order. There is also a hunt for links to earlier releases: emotions and episodes from past albums are hidden in the lyrics like Easter eggs, a bit like spotting foreshadowing in a drama. Bang Si-hyuk took part as producer on every track, which the label credits with adding depth and coherence to the whole.
The members said they have not met him in person, but heard the recording session was one for the books.

What the members said
Yunah said she is glad to show a new side of ILLIT with each comeback, and that the concept is distinct this time, so she prepared with extra attention to detail. Wonhee said the pressure to top the beloved "It's Me" was real, but she approached the album with enough confidence to call it a favorite, and asked fans to watch every track. Minju called "Arrest You" maximally addictive and predicted listeners will hum it without trying.
Iroha said the group previewed the title track on their recent encore tour, and the hot reaction made the comeback feel even more anticipated. She promised a more grown version of ILLIT.
Wonhee closed with a goal: to surpass "It's Me," and to make a release "nobody hasn't seen, and nobody has seen only once."
