Hwang In-yeop Gets Jealous of Lee Hyeri's Ex in 'Dream to You' Episode 8 Recap

ENA's Dream to You posted a 2.5% national viewership rating for its eighth episode, aired on Monday, as the show delivered its most emotionally layered hour yet, a secret romance, a buried birth secret, and a cameo that put Hwang In-yeop's character immediately on edge.

The episode opened on Woo Cheol-gyu (Jung Hae-kyun), who spent the hour searching erratically for his wife Lee Hwa-yeon (Bang Eun-jin), his behavior growing increasingly unhinged. The backstory behind his obsession came into focus through a series of flashbacks: Woo Cheol-gyu had concealed the fact that he was a married man when he began a relationship with Ahn Su-hee (Park Ji-young), and Woo Su-bin (Hwang In-yeop) was born from that affair. When a young Su-bin discovered the truth of his birth, he convinced himself that his existence was the source of his mother Hwa-yeon's unhappiness, and went to Ahn Su-hee begging to be taken in. Ahn Su-hee, who had her own family by then, sent him away. Hwa-yeon, seeing how badly the child had been hurt, chose to raise Su-bin as her own.

That history colored the episode's present-day tension. Ahn Su-hee's main concern now is that her daughter Oh Ha-na (Lee Yeol-eum) might piece together her mother's past connection to Su-bin. When she showed up late at night to confront Su-bin about his motives for casting Ha-na in the drama-within-the-drama Gyeongseong Yeonga, Su-bin absorbed her suspicion with visible bitterness.

Joo Yi-jae (Lee Hyeri), now fully in the loop about Su-bin's background, responded not with judgment but with warmth. That moment of comfort tipped the two into a secret relationship, carried on quietly amid the production.

The episode's lighter thread introduced a complication in the form of a special cameo: actor Geum Seong-mu (Lee Ju-an), who is appearing in Gyeongseong Yeonga, turned out to be Yi-jae's former boyfriend. In a tense moment on set, a falling sign nearly hit Yi-jae and Geum Seong-mu pulled her out of the way. Su-bin clocked the look in the actor's eyes afterward and seemed to recognize the history between them, his mood visibly darkening. The jealousy played lightly, but it landed.

A separate storyline traced the tightening grip Ahn Su-hee holds over her clients. After learning that Oh Ha-na had been cast in Gyeongseong Yeonga, she pressured Su-bin and Yi-jae to replace Shim Yu-geon (Baek Sung-chul) with another actor. Shim Yu-geon, willing to sacrifice his role to protect Ha-na, offered to withdraw from the project. The move backfired: Ahn Su-hee's target had never been him. Cornered and unwilling to see the person she loves lose the role, Ha-na agreed to renew her exclusive contract with Ahn Su-hee, abandoning her plans for independence in the process.

The episode closed on the fraying relationship between Ha-na and Shim Yu-geon. After confessing his feelings in an unguarded, slightly drunk moment, Yu-geon turned around and told her they were nothing to each other, a line he drew to protect them both after signing the renewed contract. Ha-na, still stung, told him she knew perfectly well that nothing was not the truth, and walked away telling him to keep liking her and keep suffering for it.
