G-Dragon's Label Fines Up to 7 Million Won on Haters Who Thought Anonymity Would Protect Them

Galaxy Corporation, G-Dragon's management company, announced on the 4th that courts have issued summary penalty orders against multiple defendants in connection with online defamation targeting the artist, with fines ranging from 2 million to 7 million won per person.

The agency filed criminal complaints against more than 100 individuals in February, citing violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, which covers online defamation in South Korea. Since then, investigations and criminal proceedings have continued through law enforcement and the courts. Several suspects have already been referred to prosecutors and indicted, and the agency says additional summary penalty requests are being filed in separate cases.

Galaxy Corporation was direct about the intent behind the public announcement. "This is proof that using an anonymous account does not protect you from being traced and criminally punished," the company said, adding that it will pursue every active case "to the end" and maintain a zero-tolerance position with no leniency or out-of-court settlements.

The legal campaign has been methodical rather than symbolic. Summary penalty orders in the Korean criminal system allow courts to impose fines without a full public trial, which means these cases have moved through the system efficiently. The fact that some defendants have already been indicted in separate proceedings suggests the agency is treating the more serious allegations differently, reserving full trials for cases where the conduct warrants it.

For any public figure navigating online harassment at scale, the practical implication here is the one Galaxy Corporation is leaning into: anonymity is not a shield. Korean courts have been increasingly willing to authorize IP and account tracing in defamation cases, and this outcome gives the agency something concrete to point to.

On a separate note, G-Dragon is preparing for a full BIGBANG comeback. The group will perform their world tour, BIGBANG 2026-2027 World Tour 'XX: COSMOS' in Goyang, at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi Province on July 21 through 23.
