Girls' Generation-HRS (효리수), the subunit formed by members HyoYeon, YuRi, and SooYoung, performed their debut stage at the 2026 Caskool Festival at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province today, giving audiences their first live look at two new tracks before the official release. SM Entertainment confirmed that the debut digital single Skibidi drops on August 31.

The single carries two tracks. The title song Skibidi opens in house territory before shifting into hip-hop, with Arabian string samples threaded through to give it an exotic texture that sets it apart from the group's usual sonic palette. The B-side, Lowkey In Love, takes a different lane: brass-driven, rhythmically grooving, and warm with a retro dance-pop mood.

HRS traces its origins to HyoYeon's personal YouTube channel, Hyo's Level Up, where a recurring segment called "Fake Kim HyoYeon" brought the three members together in a playful competition for the main vocal and center positions. What started as variety content has now become a formal project unit, a trajectory that is less common in K-pop than it might appear, where most subunits are planned from the top down rather than assembled from a creator's existing fanbase.

This marks the second time Girls' Generation has launched a named subunit. The first was TaeTiSeo (TTS), formed in 2012 by vocalists Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun, who went on to release multiple singles and albums before the full group reunited. HRS follows a similar three-member structure, though the membership and musical direction are notably different.

With the Caskool Festival stage already logged and August 31 on the calendar, the early returns on live reception will matter. Girls' Generation's second-generation fanbase is large and globally distributed, and a subunit debut backed by SM's distribution reach should generate measurable streaming numbers in the first 24 hours. Circle the date: if Skibidi charts in multiple regions on release day, that is the signal that HRS has the ceiling for sustained activity beyond a one-off single.
