Korean Indie Is Taking Over Taipei: Hyukoh, ADOY, HOA, and More Join TMEX and JJA 2026

Seven Korean indie acts are set to perform at two major Taiwanese music events later this month, marking one of the larger group arrivals the Korean independent scene has made at an Asian festival in recent years.

Hyukoh, ADOY, Brocolli, you too, HOA, Woo Hee-jun, Azica Jin Magic World, and Lipstickers are all confirmed for the Taipei Music Expo (TMEX) and the Jam Jam Asia Music Festival (JJA), both taking place at and around the Taipei Music Center from August 27 to 30.

Of the group, HOA has drawn particular attention after the band was chosen as the sole overseas artist representative at a local press conference held in Taipei on August 5. Speaking at the event, HOA said they joined because of what they'd heard about Taiwanese audiences: their passion for music and the openness they bring to new sounds. It's the kind of reception Korean indie acts have found increasingly in the region, and HOA's presence at the press conference suggests the festival organizers see them as a compelling face for that cross-cultural exchange.

The JJA, running August 29–30, is the festival portion of the lineup: a large-scale music event with more than 80 acts from 15 regions around the world, organized as part of the broader 2026 Trendy Taipei series. Running alongside it, TMEX (August 27–30) operates more as an industry event, bringing together music professionals from across the Asia-Pacific for business matching sessions and forums. The two events together make for an unusually full weekend for anyone tracking where Asian indie scenes are meeting.

For fans of the Korean acts involved, the pairing of festival stages with an industry expo backdrop is worth noting. Hyukoh and ADOY both have established international followings, and their inclusion alongside newer names like Lipstickers gives the lineup a range that reflects how varied Korean indie has become over the past few years. Whether this translates into broader regional bookings for any of the acts will be interesting to watch.
