YG's Q2 Beat Clears the Way for BIGBANG's World Tour and a September Boy Group Debut
YG Entertainment reported Q2 operating profit of 11 billion won, a 31.2% increase year-over-year, driven by strong merchandise sales and growing digital content demand from BABYMONSTER and TREASURE. The result cleared analyst concerns about a concert gap and elevated production costs. A BIGBANG world tour, BABYMONSTER's second world tour, and a new YG boy group debuting in September headline the second half.

YG Entertainment posted 11 billion won in Q2 operating profit, up 31.2% year-over-year, as merchandise tied to BABYMONSTER and TREASURE outperformed and digital content revenue continued to climb. The result arrived ahead of analyst expectations that had flagged a potential drag from reduced concert activity and new album production costs.
Those concerns turned out to be largely overstated. Strong linked merchandise sales around both groups' new releases, paired with expanding demand for digital content, were enough to absorb the costs and drive the earnings gain. The quarter is a clean data point for how much YG's revenue base has diversified beyond live performance alone.
The back half of 2025 is a considerably heavier schedule. BIGBANG's world tour, spanning 19 cities and 33 shows, kicks off July 21–23 at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi Province, and that run alone will shift the financials meaningfully given the group's ticket-price ceiling. BABYMONSTER is lined up for a second world tour, and TREASURE has additional activities planned.
The detail most worth circling: a new YG boy group is set to debut in September. The agency has not released member information publicly, but a September window is consistent with a year-end album and awards-season push, which is exactly the runway a new act needs. YG has not launched a new boy group since TREASURE debuted in 2020, so the gap is five years, and the fandom appetite for a fresh act from the label is measurable in how quickly TREASURE-related content still performs online.
Early returns on the second half will show up in Q3, but the setup is strong: a legacy act headlining arenas globally, two active girl and boy group pipelines, and a debut event that the market has not priced in yet. If the new group ships on the September timeline and lands a charting debut single, YG's H2 operating trajectory looks materially different from H1.
