Jennie's Custom Feathered Look and a 18-Song Set Headline a Big K-Pop Weekend at Lollapalooza

Jennie walked off the Lollapalooza Chicago stage on August 3 having just performed 18 songs, including a stage debut of an unreleased new track, and having done something no Korean female solo artist had done before: headline the festival.

The BLACKPINK member took to social media afterward to share a collection of behind-the-scenes photos captioned simply "Lollapalooza 2026. Chicago," and the styling alone sent fans into a spiral. For the set, she wore a custom look from an avant-garde fashion house: a black bra top layered under a white Napoleon-style cropped jacket, wide leather trousers, a brown belt, and boots. The detail that kept pulling focus, though, was the feathered headband, an accessory that walked a precise line between theatrical and wearable, and pulled the whole silhouette together.

Beyond the fashion, Jennie's headlining slot at one of North America's most storied music festivals marks a genuine milestone. Lollapalooza, held annually in Chicago's Grant Park, draws hundreds of thousands of attendees and has long been a proving ground for crossover credibility. For a Korean female solo artist to anchor it signals how far the solo lane of K-pop has traveled in a very short time.

She wasn't alone in representing the genre that weekend. aespa took the Allianz Stage on August 2, performing for roughly 60 minutes in their Lollapalooza debut. The set drew from across their catalog, "Black Mamba," "Next Level," "Armageddon," and "Supernova" among them, and the highlight came during their performance of "Switchblade," when American rapper Ty Dolla $ign, who is featured on the track, joined them onstage for a live collaboration. The group said afterward that hearing the crowd sing along made the whole experience feel electric: "We were truly honored to stand on the Lollapalooza Chicago stage. The fans singing with us and cheering so passionately let us enjoy the performance with everything we had."

i-dle had their own Lollapalooza debut on July 31, performing 16 songs on the T-Mobile Stage with a full band arrangement. The set included new single "Gimme Dat Love" alongside fan favorites like "TOMBOY," "Queencard," and "Oh My God," and the group debuted another new song, "Morning," live for the first time. They performed through rain, and the conditions didn't slow them down. Before the closing track "Mono," leader Soyeon addressed the crowd directly: "Wherever you are, whoever you are, I hope we can all become one and enjoy this music together."

The Lollapalooza weekend also offered a quieter, more candid moment: Karina of aespa was spotted at the festival grounds enjoying a slice of pizza and a beer in the rain, dressed in a white short-sleeve tee and black mini skirt, watching performances alongside the crowd and clearly unbothered by the attention. She shared a few photos on social media without a caption, and the easy, unguarded energy of them was a small contrast to the scale of everything else happening around her that weekend.

aespa's world tour kicks off on August 7 with a Seoul show at Gocheok Sky Dome, before moving through Taiwan, the Americas, and Europe across 25 cities total. The Lollapalooza set was something of a warm-up lap, and by all accounts, the group handled it well.
