Kwon Eunbi's 2.4 Billion Won Building Has Two Floors Reserved for Her Managers

Singer Kwon Eunbi appeared on the September 12 episode of JTBC's Knowing Bros and disclosed that two floors of her 2.4 billion won building are occupied by her managers, who pay something closer to a maintenance charge than actual rent. It's a detail that places her in an increasingly visible category of Korean artists who treat their staff's financial stability as a personal responsibility rather than a company matter.

Kwon Eunbi described the building's layout plainly: a cafe on the first floor, one manager on the second, a regular tenant on the third, and another manager on the fourth. She noted that each floor holds a single unit. As for what her managers pay, she said she keeps it "not burdensome at all, more of a maintenance fee feeling than monthly rent."

Cast member Lee Jaeyul quipped that she must be collecting 20 million won a month in maintenance fees. Kwon Eunbi didn't take the bait.

Why she set it up this way

Her reasoning was practical and personal. Most of her managers come from outside Seoul, and their agency doesn't provide separate housing, a common gap in smaller or mid-sized Korean entertainment companies, where staff accommodation is rarely guaranteed. "They're all friends from other regions, and paying monthly rent was a burden for them," she said. "They've also worked with me for a really long time. I just wanted to help a little more."

She lives elsewhere; the building is purely for her team and the cafe she runs on the ground floor.

The cafe named after a dog

That cafe, now in its second year of operation, has a name that takes a moment to parse: Geumbi and Eunbi's Little Attic, rendered in Korean as a play on gold (geum) and silver (eun). The "Geumbi" half refers to her pet dog. Kwon Eunbi told the cast she came up with the name herself and described the flagship menu: handmade cakes and banana pudding, both prepared in-house.

When the cast called her the "female Seo Janghoon", a reference to the former basketball star turned broadcaster who is well known for his real estate holdings, Kwon Eunbi said she was perfectly happy with the nickname. Seo Janghoon, seated on set, called it an honor to have his name attached to hers.
