Gong Hyo-jin's Killer Instincts Take Over the Team Retreat in 'Married Woman Killer' Episode 3

There's a photo from episode 3 of Married Woman Killer that says everything about this show: Gong Hyo-jin, dart in hand, posture locked, staring down a spinning wheel used to pick a dinner menu with the full concentration of a trained assassin. It is genuinely funny, and it is exactly the kind of moment the drama has been building toward.

MBC's Friday-Saturday drama returns this week with its third episode, airing Saturday evening, and the preview materials released ahead of broadcast suggest the stakes are climbing fast. Sales Team 3 of Durumi Electronics, revealed in episode 2 to be a covert unit specializing in eliminating criminals who exploit legal gray zones, has headed out on a company workshop retreat ahead of a new client meeting. What starts as a rare break from domestic life for Yu Bo-na (played by Gong Hyo-jin) turns into a situation no one on the team could have predicted.

Gong's character, also known by her legendary code name "Kingfisher," has just returned to active duty after years spent on housework and childcare. The retreat photos show her visibly giddy about the free time, until, of course, things go sideways. Her dart-throwing stance at the dinner-wheel game is played for laughs, but the precision behind it is unmistakable.

The rest of the team is in considerably more trouble. Kim Bong-pal (Sung Dong-il), who usually leans into the role of the office's good-natured pushover, is photographed standing arms-out in front of a gun pointed directly at him, expression steady. The production team's note that his "hidden combat ability" is about to be revealed for the first time will have fans of Sung's reliably charming screen presence curious to see what he does with it.

Elsewhere in the stills, Ki Yeong-do (Mu Jin-seong) is shown being helped along while bleeding, with no explanation yet of who attacked him. Bong Tae-min (Kim Nam-hee) and Oh Hyeon-nam (Ha Yul-ri) are crouched together in hiding, Tae-min covering Hyeon-nam's mouth, both waiting for whatever danger has found them to pass. The production team described the retreat as a situation that "transforms from peaceful to a razor's edge crisis no one can see coming," adding that each team member's real capabilities will finally come out in full.

The timing matters. Married Woman Killer pulled 8.0% nationwide ratings (Nielsen Korea, household basis) in its second episode, up 0.6 points from the 7.4% debut. That's a solid foothold for a show inheriting the Friday-Saturday slot from Chief Kim, which generated its own wave of fan enthusiasm. Whether the drama can keep climbing through episodes 3 and 4 this week will be worth watching, but the combination of Gong Hyo-jin's comedic precision and a team-in-peril setup gives it a reasonable shot at holding viewers through the weekend.
