Gong Hyo-jin's character downs poison on screen, and her stalker immediately starts to cry. That's the image MBC released ahead of episodes 3 and 4 of Married Woman Killer (유부녀 킬러), airing on the 7th and 8, and it's doing a lot of work to set up the drama's most emotionally charged hour yet.

To catch up: Yu Bo-na (Gong Hyo-jin) has been cornered by Oh Hyeon-nam (Ha Yul-ri), who threatened to reveal that Bo-na poisoned her own husband, Kwon Tae-sung (Jung Jun-won). Rather than backing down, Bo-na's response is to grab a glass bottle and drink from it herself. It's a full-commitment bluff, or possibly not a bluff at all, and the released still captures exactly that uncertainty: Bo-na holding the bottle, Oh Hyeon-nam watching her with tears forming, neither woman willing to flinch first. The staging puts Ha Yul-ri in the more vulnerable position, which is a notable shift for a character who has been relentlessly in control.

The episodes will also begin answering the question that has been quietly building since the premiere: why has Oh Hyeon-nam spent 15 years tracking Yu Bo-na's every move? Photos plastering an entire glass wall of Oh Hyeon-nam's home, documenting Bo-na's daily life in obsessive detail, confirm this goes far beyond a simple grudge. Viewers will finally learn why Bo-na chose, on a Christmas Day 15 years ago, to reveal her face to Oh Hyeon-nam and agree to a client meeting with O Man-seok's character, a decision that apparently set everything in motion.

On a separate thread, journalist Kwon Tae-sung continues digging into social issues for a story and keeps stumbling onto loose ends that connect back to a mysterious figure known as Kingfisher. Earlier episodes revealed he once nearly died at a Kingfisher sniper scene, a detail that makes his current investigation feel considerably less routine. Meanwhile, investigator Lee Dong-jin (Lee Sang-yi) begins formally building his case and positions himself one step ahead, predicting Kingfisher's next target before the killer can move.

Married Woman Killer stepped into the Friday-Saturday prime-time slot left open after Chief Kim (김부장) wrapped, and it has held its ground in its first week. Episode 1 drew a 7.4% national household rating (Nielsen Korea) and episode 2 climbed to 8.0%, a modest but encouraging gain. Whether episodes 3 and 4 can push that upward trend further will be the clearest early signal of how committed audiences are getting to the mystery at the show's center.
