Shin Min-a and Kim Woo-bin have donated more than 5 billion won (roughly $3.5 million) in total, according to host Yoo Jae-suk, who raised the figure in a preview clip for tvN's You Quiz on the Block. The clip was posted on the show's official social media accounts on the 26th, and Shin used it to explain why she began giving without telling anyone.

Public donation tallies for Korean celebrities are usually reported by the charities that receive the money, not by the donors. Here the number came from a talk-show host, which fits Shin's own account of how she started.

"When I first started donating, I felt that good deeds should be done quietly," Shin said. She added that she began with the hope of helping people who are less likely to be reached by others. Yoo praised the couple for continuing to give, saying many people already know about it, and argued that these efforts deserve more public attention. "Even if they don't talk about it themselves, there's a reason people around them keep bringing it up," he said.

What giving every year looks like

Shin said the annual habit has its own rewards. Charities sometimes send her letters describing how the donations were used, and she said knowing the money became something valuable to another person makes her proud.

She was careful not to put the headline number at the center. "Regardless of the amount, I think consistency and the heart behind it are what matter," she said. She added that she would be grateful if seeing her example made others want to take part.

Two donation histories, one wedding day

The two actors have given for a long time. Shin has donated since 2009 to burn patients and underserved communities. Kim has supported low-income teenagers and children with cancer since 2014.

They began a public relationship in 2015 and married in December 2025, roughly ten years later. On the wedding day itself, they donated a combined 300 million won to several organizations, including the Hanlim Burn Foundation, Asan Medical Center in Seoul and Good Friends.

Shin's full episode of You Quiz on the Block airs on the 28th at 8:45 p.m. KST.
