BIGBANG's return for their 20th debut anniversary has made a serious impact on the charts. The new digital single BiiiG debuted at number one on Melon, while older fan favorites like Haru Haru and Lie re-entered the top 100 for the first time in years, a full-catalog resurgence backed by a 333% spike in monthly streams.

BIGBANG's 20th anniversary comeback landed harder than even longtime fans may have anticipated. The group's new digital single BiiiG, co-written and composed by G-Dragon, shot straight to number one on Melon's Top 100 chart the moment it dropped on the 19th, and it has held that position on the daily chart ever since.

What makes the numbers more striking is how far the momentum extended beyond the new song. According to Melon's DataLab, total streams across BIGBANG's entire catalog increased by 333% in August compared to the month before, a figure that reflects not just curiosity about the comeback but a genuine re-engagement with the group's back catalog.

A world tour weekend that rewoke the archive

Much of the catalog surge is tied directly to the world tour opener. XX: COSMOS, BIGBANG's 20th anniversary world tour, kicked off on the 21st through 23rd at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi Province, drawing tens of thousands of fans across three nights. As the setlist circulated online ahead of the shows, older hits started climbing.

Haru Haru, released back in 2008, had been sitting at an average chart position of 224 in July. Starting the day before the first concert date, it began a sharp ascent, re-entering the Top 100 at no. 91 on the 23rd and climbing to no. 67 by the 24th. Its monthly streams grew 298% compared to the July average. Spring Summer Fall Winter (also known as Season of You) moved from an average position of 231 in July to no. 86 on the 24th, while Lies, the group's breakout 2007 hit, landed at no. 90 on the same day.

The pattern is a familiar one in K-pop: a live performance moment reconnects listeners with a song they haven't actively sought out in years, and streaming follows almost immediately. The difference with BIGBANG is the sheer depth of catalog that responded, multiple songs from nearly two decades ago moving simultaneously.

Global chart impact

The comeback's reach extended well beyond Korea. On the Global K-Chart jointly operated by Melon, Tencent Music, and Line Music, BIGBANG topped the rankings for two consecutive weeks during the third and fourth weeks of August. That sustained presence across the Chinese and Japanese markets alongside the domestic performance signals that the group's pull hasn't dimmed in the years since their last full-group activity.

BiiiG marks BIGBANG's first complete lineup release in roughly four years and four months, featuring G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung together. The reception so far suggests the anniversary isn't just a moment of nostalgia, it's an active reintroduction to an audience that spans fans who grew up with Lies in middle school and listeners discovering the group now through the new single.
