CORTIS Played 'REDRED' 4 Times at Their Debut Concert, And Fans Have Thoughts

K-pop rookie group CORTIS kicked off their debut solo tour PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN at Incheon's Inspire Arena on July 18 with something almost no other K-pop act would dare attempt on a first concert stage: a full mosh pit.

About 20 dancers threw themselves into each other during the performance of 'TNT', a track from the group's second mini-album, in a collision of bodies and energy that felt more like a rock show than a polished idol concert. It was a deliberate statement of intent, and it set the tone for everything that followed.

The setlist itself became the conversation. CORTIS performed their hit 'REDRED' four times across the night, including the encore, and 'YOUNGCREATORCREW' five times. With only two albums released so far totaling 12 tracks, the group had limited material to draw from. Rather than filling gaps with covers of other artists, as many rookie acts do, CORTIS leaned into repetition, cycling through the same tracks with different arrangements and staging to build intensity with each pass.

The comparison that came to mind for some fans was Travis Scott's approach to live performance: repeating a single song until the crowd reaches a fever pitch. Whether that framing lands as artistic vision or a workaround for a thin catalog depends largely on who you ask.

Not everyone was convinced. Tickets were priced at 143,000 won (roughly $103), and the full show ran approximately 100 minutes, with no VCR interlude segments and no costume changes throughout. Members Matin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyun, and Geonho wore a single outfit for the entire performance. For some attendees, the combination of the ticket price, the short runtime, and the repeated tracks felt like an underwhelming return.

For others, the lack of production filler was the point. The group moved relentlessly through the cross-shaped extended stage and down into the audience aisles, the raw energy of the live vocals on 'What You Want' pulling the crowd into a full sing-along that felt genuinely earned rather than choreographed. No elaborate staging hid the fact that these five performers were doing the heavy lifting themselves.

The concert name PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN framed the whole experience as an invitation to be physically present, to skip the screen and feel the room directly. Whether or not the setlist depth matched the ambition, the group's stage presence made a case that their live show is where they're most convincing. A debut-year act with 12 songs holding an arena crowd for 100 minutes on repetition alone is either a bold artistic bet or an overreach, and that tension is exactly what fans are still debating.

CORTIS is scheduled to continue the tour through September, with upcoming stops including Seoul, New York, and Kanagawa, Japan, for a total of 14 performances across nine cities. Before the international leg, the group returns to Seoul next month for a show at Korea University's Hwajung Gymnasium in Seongbuk-gu, marking their first anniversary as a group. After Incheon, that show already feels like the one to watch.
