Hyoyeon has opened up about life in the Girls' Generation dorm, where she’s spent the last 19 years. During her appearance on MBC's Knowing Bros on August 29, she shared amusing interactions with her fellow members. When asked about their reactions to her being on the show, she recounted, "Sooyoung asked, ‘Why you of all people? It’s famous people who appear there.’ To which I jokingly replied, 'Well, I’m famous too!'" This playful exchange set a lighthearted tone for her debut on the show.

Living alone at the dorm, Hyoyeon attracted attention when she revealed her current living situation, continuing a bond with the venue over two decades. Her affectionate relationship with the dorm caretaker, who sees her like a daughter, came to light as well. "If you quit, I’ll quit too," the caretaker expressed, showcasing a deep emotional connection.

Earlier this year, during her appearance on JTBC's Please Take Care of My Refrigerator, Hyoyeon explained why she still chooses to live in the dorm, even after the other members moved out. She stated, "Songdo is my family home, but I stay here to keep my schedule comfortable. It’s a cozy haven, and the caretaker always makes sure I don’t go hungry. There’s no better place for me."

She also emphasized the perks of dorm life on the YouTube channel Hall Myung Soo, stating, "I can rest peacefully, and I always get delicious meals here." Addressing financial concerns, she candidly remarked, "I believe saving is the best way to survive." Additionally, she mentioned, "When I first signed with SM, they promised to take care of me like a second mother, and they’ve kept that promise all these years. That's why I want to stay." However, she confessed, "Sometimes, if I have no income, I feel like I’m being a burden, wondering if I still belong here." Hyoyeon's reflections resonate with long-time fans, as she balances nostalgia with reality in her continued journey with Girls' Generation.
