ILLIT's Swingin' Magic Scores Anime Season 2 Gig and a Korean Version Drop

ILLIT dropped their fourth Japanese digital single, Swingin' Magic, at midnight on the 21st, and the dual-language release landed with a two-for-one that fans in both Korea and Japan were quick to notice: the Japanese original and a full Korean-language version released together, simultaneously.

The song is built around new jack swing's signature rhythmic groove, and ILLIT's particular strengths (a layered harmonic blend, the kind of brightness that cuts through a busy production) suit the genre's bounce better than most. The track captures what Belift Lab describes as a magical moment of swinging between dream and reality, and there's enough melodic warmth in the chorus to make that framing feel earned rather than just promotional.

A consecutive anime run

The bigger piece of context is where the song is going. Swingin' Magic serves as the opening theme for Mahou no Shimai Lulutori Liri Season 2, the TV anime set to premiere in Japan on October 4. ILLIT also provided vocals for Season 1, making this back-to-back anime theme work for the same series, a detail that signals how well their sound landed the first time. When the anime eventually airs domestically in Korea, ILLIT's vocal version will be retained for that broadcast as well.

Producing the track is Kanata Okajima, a songwriter who previously worked with ILLIT on I Got Your Back (Feat. JISOO, MOMOKA of HANA), the title track from their second Japanese single. His involvement for the second time in a row suggests a working relationship that's settled into something productive rather than just convenient.

It's worth noting how steadily ILLIT's Japan footprint has grown. Since debuting there with Almond Chocolate as a film OST, their original Japanese material has been picked up across film, drama, variety, anime, and brand campaigns.
