Jessica Returns to a Korean Stage After 12 Years With a 2009 Duet

Jessica stepped onto a Korean stage for the first time in roughly 12 years on the 19th, singing her and Park Myungsoo's beloved 2009 Infinite Challenge duet "Naengmyeon" at the post-race concert for the 2026 Infinite Challenge Run in Gyeongju at Gyeongju Citizens' Stadium.

The special performance followed the marathon-style race event and featured a lineup that included Lee Juk, Zion.T, and Yoon Mirae. But the moment that drew the biggest reaction was the reunion of Park Myungsoo and Jessica, who had not shared a stage together since the original performance 17 years ago.

A duet 17 years in the making

The pair first performed "Naengmyeon" on Infinite Challenge's 2009 Olympic Boulevard Duet Music Festival, competing under the team name Myeongca Drive. The song became one of the program's most fondly remembered musical segments, and the reunion at the Infinite Challenge Run event was the first time the two had performed it live together since.

Footage published on Coupang Play's official account showed the two side by side at the mic, delivering the performance with obvious chemistry. For the chorus, they added a playful bit of choreography mimicking the act of eating naengmyeon, which drew a strong response from the crowd. Jessica's vocals were sharp and confident throughout.

She shared a post on her own social media the following day, captioning a set of photos with "Naengmyeon, long time no see," tagging Park Myungsoo's account and adding hashtags related to the event. Comments came in quickly: fans wrote things like "I missed this so much," "I can't believe you're on stage together again after 17 years," and "Does this mean a proper Korean comeback is coming?"

Twelve years since her last Korean stage

The appearance carries extra weight beyond the reunion itself. Jessica debuted with Girls' Generation in 2007 and left the group in 2014, after which she shifted her focus largely overseas, particularly toward China, while building out a solo music career and fashion business. A Korean public performance had not happened in the approximately 12 years since.

Her most recent concert was a solo show in Vietnam in April titled Reflections in Vietnam, where she performed a Girls' Generation medley including "Gee," "Genie," and "I Got A Boy." She also sang a ballad arrangement of the group's debut track "Into the New World" and became emotional mid-performance.

That the Gyeongju stage brought her back in front of a Korean live audience, even in a relatively informal setting, is the kind of moment longtime fans had stopped expecting. Whether it signals anything more deliberate about her Korean activities remains to be seen, but the crowd reaction and the warmth in her own post suggest she felt it too.
