BTS's 'Today's BTS' Photos Got a Glow-Up, and V Is Behind It

BTS's V came clean on Weverse Live this week: he's the one responsible for the noticeably more creative 'Today's BTS' photos that fans have been buzzing about.

'Today's BTS' (오늘의 방탄) is the official group photo BTS releases after completing a scheduled event. For years, the format was reliable but familiar: seven members lined up in a row, camera centered. Recently, though, the compositions shifted. Different angles, looser groupings, more personality. Fans started speculating that a new photographer had joined the team.

V cleared that up during his July 7 Weverse Live. "I feel a little awkward praising myself," he said with a laugh, before explaining that he'd grown genuinely restless with the old format. "We have people at our company who take really great photos, and yet we're just standing in a straight line for 'Today's BTS.' It was so boring. Really."

So he did something about it. "I thought, this is too dull, too bland. Let's not stand in a line every time. I came up with a few ideas, let's shoot in a way that's actually fun," he said. One of his early suggestions was inspired by comic-book cover poses, a visual style that's circulated as a popular internet format. He proposed they try it as a starting point, and it caught on from there.

Looking ahead, V made clear this is more than a one-off experiment. "From now on, 'Today's BTS' isn't going to be stiff or boring," he said. "We're going to come up with fun ideas and shoot in a fun way. We have a lot of tour dates coming up, so there'll be plenty of opportunities."

The live also gave V a chance to thank fans for something that had clearly moved him. Earlier in July, he had posted on Weverse asking fans not to gather outside his hotel, explaining that it could affect his performance condition. The response, he said, genuinely surprised him. "After I asked people not to come to the hotel, about 90 out of 100 fans I passed on the street just... pretended not to see me. Even if we made eye contact, they'd quickly look away, to give me a little extra memory or space."

He found the gesture so warm that the members started initiating greetings themselves. "We'd just go up and say 'hi' first," he said, smiling through the story. It's a small detail, but the kind that says a lot about where V and BTS's relationship with their fanbase stands right now.
