WJSN's SeolA Apologizes After AI Ruins Her 15-Year Farewell to Starship
WJSN member SeolA posted what she called a handwritten farewell letter upon leaving Starship Entertainment, but fans quickly noticed AI-generated typos. She deleted the post, rewrote it by hand, and apologized on September 17.

WJSN member SeolA's goodbye to Starship Entertainment hit a snag before the ink was even dry. Announcing her departure from the agency on the 17th, she posted a long, emotional letter in the style of handwritten script, except fans spotted a tell: misspellings of the type that AI image-generation tools produce when rendering Korean text, including '낮설고' for '낯설고' and '배윰' for '배움.'
The suspicion spread fast. Within hours, online communities were debating whether SeolA had fed her actual letter into an AI tool to produce a cleaner, more readable image and posted that instead of a photo of the real thing. SeolA deleted the original post without comment, then put up a new image of what appeared to be an actual handwritten letter.
The apology
Also on the 17th, SeolA addressed the situation directly on her social media. "My handwritten letter was uneven and hard to read, so I thought I'd upload a more legible version, that was a lapse in judgment," she wrote. "Going forward, I'll be more careful about everything. I'm sorry."
The explanation tracks: the impulse to tidy up messy handwriting for a public post is understandable, but using an AI rendering of text for what was framed as a personal, intimate letter was always going to land badly. The timing, a farewell after 15 years, made the stakes higher.
Fifteen years at Starship
SeolA debuted with WJSN in 2016 under Starship Entertainment, spending the better part of a decade and a half with the label. In her revised handwritten letter, she reflected on that stretch of time: years of growth, joy, and difficult days, all of which she credited with shaping who she is now. She described starting fresh as still feeling a little unfamiliar and nerve-wracking, but said she plans to move at her own pace.
SeolA launched a solo career in 2024. With the Starship chapter now closed, what comes next is, as she put it, her call to make, one step at a time.
