BIGBANG Marks 20 Years With Immersive 'COSMOS' Exhibition in Seoul

YG Entertainment and creative technology studio MUT are staging a large-scale media exhibition called 'COSMOS' in Seoul to mark BIGBANG's 20th debut anniversary. The show runs across two venues, including a roughly 1,000-pyeong underground space between City Hall and Euljiro stations, and will feature real-time holograms, AI, XR, and 3D motion graphics. It is part of a broader anniversary project that also includes a Han River fan event and the 'XX: COSMOS' world tour.

YG Entertainment and global entertainment technology company MUT (Creative MUT) announced on August 4 that they will co-produce BIGBANG 20th Anniversary Media Exhibition 'COSMOS', a large-scale immersive art show in Seoul timed to the group's two-decade milestone.

The exhibition is one part of a cluster of 20th anniversary projects: it follows a Han River fan event on August 19, which will include fireworks and a drone show at Yeouido, and runs alongside the XX: COSMOS world tour, which opens in Goyang between August 21 and 23.

The show is structured in two phases. A prequel exhibition will open at Lotte World Tower in Jamsil, followed by the main exhibition in a disused underground space spanning roughly 1,000 pyeong (about 3,300 square meters) beneath the stretch of subway between City Hall Station and Euljiro Entrance Station. That underground corridor, branded dududo SEOUL, has been developed as a cultural venue from infrastructure that would otherwise sit idle. Specific dates for both phases are still to be confirmed.

On the technology side, MUT is applying a stack that includes AI, real-time hologram projection, XR (extended reality), VR, and next-generation 3D motion graphics. The aim, according to the organizers, is to reframe BIGBANG's two decades of music through what they describe as an immersive media art format rather than a conventional retrospective.

The exhibition title carries its own conceptual weight. Cosmos is used here in the philosophical sense: connection, relationship, and continuity, defined by the organizers as "everything that existed in the past, exists in the present, and will exist in the future." It is the same word anchoring the world tour name, suggesting the anniversary project was conceived with a unified thematic through-line.

MUT's involvement gives a reasonable sense of what the execution might look like. The studio previously ran Ubermensch, a solo media exhibition for BIGBANG member G-Dragon, across 11 cities worldwide, drawing a combined 250,000 visitors. That track record is part of why YG brought them in as the production partner rather than treating the exhibition as an in-house project.
