When tens of thousands of fans inside SoFi Stadium lifted Korean flags and sang "Arirang" together, thousands of kilometers from the song's homeland, even Big Hit Music admitted it left a mark. That scene, during the performance of album track Body to Body from BTS's fifth studio album, became one of the defining images of the ARIRANG World Tour's North American run.

BTS closed out the North America leg of the tour on September 5 and 6 in Los Angeles, following shows on September 1 and 2 at the same venue. The four-night SoFi Stadium finale brought 282,000 fans through the gates, capping a tour that covered 12 cities across the continent and produced 31 consecutive sold-out performances. Total attendance for the North American leg: approximately 1.92 million.

A venue record built over years

The LA shows were also a milestone for SoFi Stadium itself. Combined with BTS's four-show run at the same venue in 2021 during the BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE concerts, the group has now performed there eight times, making them the act with the most concerts in the stadium's history. Cumulative attendance across all eight shows sits at roughly 496,000, the highest total for any artist since the venue opened. The LA concerts were live-streamed on the fan platform Weverse and reached viewers in 177 countries.

September 1, the first night of the finale, happened to be Jungkook's birthday, and the crowd met the occasion with a wave of gold light and a spontaneous chorus of happy birthday. On the final night, September 6, fans got a head start on celebrating RM, whose birthday falls on the 12th.

Jungkook brought something else to that last show: a postcard he had drawn himself, which he held up for the audience. "I want to tell you that you are perfect to me," he said.

What the members and the press made of it

BTS addressed the crowd with a mix of disbelief and warmth. "It feels like just yesterday we started in Tampa, and it hasn't quite sunk in that we're already saying goodbye from LA, our last stop," they said. "Every moment passed so quickly, maybe because we were so happy. We'll hold these moments close." They also said they hoped to "stay connected forever, wherever we are."

Around 40 international outlets covered the tour, including AP and Billboard. The Los Angeles Times called BTS "world-class pop artists" and noted that while K-pop's global footprint has grown considerably during the group's hiatus period, the specific cultural impact BTS built remains its own category. The paper also observed that the tension between the group's roots and their global reach is audible in ARIRANG itself, an album that weaves traditional Korean folk melody into polished pop structures and hip-hop production. Forbes focused on how the tour's energy spread through the wider city, pointing to fans from many cultural backgrounds singing along to "Arirang," incorporating Korean elements like hanbok, taegukgi fans, and norigae accessories, and a wave of BTS-themed promotions at local businesses across Los Angeles.

Cities responded in kind

The official recognition from local governments was notable in its breadth. Los Angeles declared September 1 through 8 "BTS Week" and lit City Hall in red, the signature color of the ARIRANG album. Toronto designated August 22 and 23 "BTS Weekend" and temporarily renamed a stretch of Yonge Street "BTS Boulevard." Illinois declared the Chicago concert date "BTS Day," and El Paso County named the concert period "El Paso BTS Weekend" and presented the group with a commendation. Maryland Governor Wes Moore released a welcome video, and in Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum extended an official invitation to the group.

The South American leg of the ARIRANG World Tour begins on October 2 in Bogotá, Colombia. From there, BTS moves on to Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires, and São Paulo.
