After a Year on the Rack, BTS's V Poncho Is Now Made Just One a Day

"That poncho had gone unsold for almost a year. It was as if it was waiting for V to come and wear it himself." That is how a Peruvian shopkeeper described the garment BTS's V wore at the group's Arirang world tour stop in Peru, in an interview with the terrestrial broadcaster Latina Television.

The poncho V chose is now being sold to fans after the show, and inquiries keep coming. According to the merchant, V picked that particular color himself over a video call. Because each poncho is made by hand, the shop can barely produce one a day, which makes the sudden demand hard to meet.

The poncho was not the only item to disappear in Peru. A T-shirt V wore during the soundcheck stage also sold out.

A pattern across the tour

The Peru run fits what has been happening at other stops. In Chile, V posted an Instagram photo of himself holding a glass of wine at a winery, and the wine sold out at official retailers in Korea and abroad within two hours. The Korean retailer announced that it expects to restock in two months.

Back in May, at the Mexico shows, fans crowded the shop where V bought a Mexican-style corn dog called a bandera. A major Mexican daily reported that after V ate one, everyone at the venue began buying them. The local shop went on to officially name the snack "TAELICIOUS."

Three countries, three very different products, and the same result each time. Whether it is a handmade garment, a bottle of wine or street food, the items V picks up seem to find buyers almost immediately, and local businesses are noticing.
